Training Update

This morning the mountain couldn’t have been more perfect. Except it wasn’t the powder day we had expected. Hero snow and sunshine meant that conditions were perfect to work on technique and go back to basics. All groups had a rip first thing, enjoying going fast again, before reigning it in and focusing on fundamentals. FIS and U16’s could be seen perfecting snowploughs and stem christies on green runs around the mountain (don’t under estimate how difficult it is to do a proper snowplough!) whilst the younger groups ditched the poles and focused on leg steering and short turns. Tomorrow (Tues 1st June): 8am: Movement Prep 8.30am On-snow SL skis for all groups U14/U16 Parent info session 4pm in the...

Training Update

Who knew Thredbo could be so much fun! Today was a day to charge hard and have fun. There were ‘whoops’ and ‘woos’ heard around the mountain, face shots had and falls aplenty. Everyone was loving the fresh snow and our new coaches (myself included) were treated to a tour of the mountain as only those in the know could deliver. Thanks for showing us the secret stashes kids! Black jackets were flying around the mountain as the FIS crew and U16’s charged hard and barely paused to regroup before heading up and finding more freshies. The younger crew weren’t far behind, but seemed to spend a fair bit of time airborne. Tomorrow (Mon 30th): Looking like another powder day!! 8am for Movement Prep. 8.30am on-snow. Check out a few pics of the U14’s going large (Jasper, Issy; photo credit: Emilie) and a short clip of some of the U12’s catching some air. [KGVID width=”640″...

Training Update

Well what a day! Mother Nature continues to be kind to us and delivering the good stuff! With the expectation of only a few centimetres up top the plan was to have some fun then get back to basics. However, it continued to snow heavily and there was more on the ground than expected, so a few fun runs turned into more of a powder day with a lot of learning on the fly. There were smiles all round and apart from a few cold hands everyone was happier than Larry. It’s still snowing at present and likely to continue all night so tomorrow (Sun 29th): 8am ready for Movement Prep 8.30am on-snow (twinnies for all, technical focus: Powder) It was great to see so many at the 2013 Prize Giving tonight. Congratulations to all those who received awards. And a special mention to the out-going TSRC President Steve Weeks for 12 years of service. A few house-keeping matters: Please do not drive over the bridge and drop your kids off, this area is for AUTHORISED vehicles only (and I’m led to believe that no-one in the club is authorised, if you are let me know!). Tomorrow night is the Parent/Coach Dinner at the Denman (6.30pm for 7pm serve), please be advised that it is a cash bar and cash for the raffles. Training Update

Good evening all, Regardless of it being a little windy and the snow a touch variable, today turned out to be a very productive day with nearly all coaches and most members present. Jules and Stuart led the charge with the U10/12’s and went for a rip before going back to basics down on Friday Flat. As did Emilie and Jeremy with the U14’s, and Paolo, Alex and Kikko with the U16’s. Joe and Elena took the same approach and drilled the basics in a variety of terrains and turn shapes. Across the board all coaches were impressed by what they saw. Some really good things happening, but most importantly the right attitudes and efforts. Everyone is looking forward to a productive season with their groups. Tomorrow (Sat 28th): 8am ready for Movement Prep 8.30am on-snow It may well turn into a powder day (cross your fingers), otherwise the plan is to continue to work on the basics and have a bit of a technical free ski. For those that still need uniforms, Jenny will be around from 7.30am till 8am. 2013 Prize giving ceremony tomorrow night 5.15pm at the Keller Bar. And another reminder to jump on line and check volunteer days so you can sign up for some… next events are the Redlands Cup and TSRC Cup (lots more volunteers needed). See you all in the...
