A great start to Winter 2015

The snow gods turned on the snow for us this weekend, enabling us to actually ski on the long weekend – it’s been some years since skis were strapped on this early in the season. We had 40 athletes attend the weekend to prepare for the season, including: setting up  lockers organising uniforms getting the ski legs in shape catching up with old friends and new earning about the hazards of back country skiing and avalanche response from Kieren Gaul. 2015 AGM Update

General 2014 was one of the best seasons in decades Training numbers strong – club finished the season “full” with 88 members In 2015 we have 105  training members. Results National representation-21 current and recent “past” members represented Australia in Olympics, FIS and Youth events in 2014 Sochi Olympians – Lavinia Chrystal; Scott Kneller, Sami Kennedy-Sim, Russ Henshaw – all previously TSRC juniors International age group events. Madi Hoffman had finishes of 2nd, 3rd and 9th at Whistler Cup, Sami Gaul a 2nd place, Oliver Thompson 3rd place in USA National Junior Championships Theo Coates NSWIS OWI development award/scholarship. Races Club hosted events in 2014 were limited by SSA to 2 days of FIS races in August 2015 – 7 days – 4 days of FIS races and 3 days of SSA Children Series I have continued to lobby for longer term planning by SSA to ensure equity between the resorts in terms of race days, sharing of national champs and ANC races over a 10 -15 year roster and widening of the athletes included in the skills assessment Thank you to all of you who volunteered to assist with running the races, impossible to happen without the TSRC manpower. No other club has such a skilled and efficient parent machine, we constantly receive compliments from visiting athletes, coaches and TDs. Initiatives Club Administrator – 2014 was the first year we had a full time administrator in the Clubhouse. Mumm’s on the run

Calling all  Mumms, Are you now the slowest skier in your family? Always trying to catch up to everyone else? Or do you want to jump off Balls to the wall? Even if your answer is ‘no’ to the above – surely you would want to spend a couple of days skiing, laughing, eating, talking, drinking the odd glass of Mumm, and having a good time with a group of really cool Mumms? Back by popular demand….we are holding a two day Women’s Clinic on Tuesday 30th June and Wednesday, 1st July, 2015. Welcome to Winter 2015 TSRC

Good afternoon TSRCers! As many of you are hopefully already aware Thredbo is looking white and ready to spin the lifts early this season! Tomorrow marks the first day of skiing with Saturday being the official opening of the resort. This weekend is also gearing up to be a big one for TSRC. We have over 40 athletes signed up for this weekend, unreal numbers! This weekends schedule is as follows: SAT – 1pm-4pm SUN – 9am-4pm MON – 9am-12pm Please be ready to ski and for dryland each day as the plan is to do both! Don’t worry about having your racers ready, rock-hoppers will be fine as conditions are still limited. Also, bring a pen and paper on Sunday as we are having an Avalanche/Snow Safety session being run by Kieran Gaul. Uniforms will be available for collection from the clubhouse on Saturday from 4pm-5pm. (NB: Small sized ski pants; 8,10,12,16, are sold out and your best bet is to try Harro’s.)
